Beaker vase with shishi, hoo-birds, flowering plants and floral scrolls

Beaker of porcelain with a trumpet-shaped mouth, painted in underglaze blue and overglaze red, black and gold. On the outer wall two large cartouches with a shishi (lion-dog) between a flowering peony plant; the cartouches are separated by bands of scrolling work containing a lobed cartouche with a hoo bird surrounded by floral scrolls. On the outer rim a broad band with chrysanthemum scrolls interrupted by lobed cartouches with a shishi between a plant. Around the foot a band with lotus scrolls. On the foot a band with scrolling work. The interior with a peony and chrysanthemum branch. A crack in the rim. Part of a cabinet set. Imari.
