About this work

Four-lobed porcelain teapot on four short feet, with a curved spout and upright handle and gilded bronze mount, painted overglaze in turquoise, green, yellow, aubergine, and black. The wall is divided into four compartments, each with a cartouche with flowering plants carved out in a colored background. In the compartment around the spout, a flowered yellow background with dots; bamboo branches in the cartouche. Next to it, a turquoise background with scrollwork with a grasshopper on aster branches in the cartouche. The third compartment with a green background with pine and dots with peony branches. In the fourth, an aubergine background with asters and scrollwork, with in the cartouche a grasshopper on carnations by a rock. On the shoulder, a band with leafy vines. The rim with a band of scrollwork. On the lid, floral vines. The spout with bamboo branches and the handle imitates a bamboo branch. The lid has been broken. Famille verte.
