About this work

Egg-shaped lidded pot of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue and with overglaze blue, red, pink, green, black and gold. On the body, twice an openwork handle basket with a chilong (hornless dragon) in a scalloped cartouche. The basket is filled with floral and fruit branches (peony, chrysanthemum, prunus, fingered citron, magnolia). Between them, twice a flower vase on a low table. On the vase, the head of a shishi (lion-dog) with a ring in its mouth. The vase is surrounded by symbols of good fortune (table with scrolls, ruyi scepter, fan, qin, incense burner, bowl with mushrooms (lingzhi) and scrolls). On the shoulder, an irregular band with peony scrolls on 'frogspawn', leaf scrolls, chrysanthemum scrolls, flower rosettes and peach blossoms on 'crackled ice'. Around the foot, a band with chrysanthemum scrolls. The neck with peony branches. The lidded pot is part of the cabinet set AK-RBK-15919. Famille rose.
