About this work

Porcelain plate, painted on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, black and gold. On the base a representation of various Dutch ships at anchor in the South African Table Bay, at the Dutch settlement; on the wall a band with leafy vines; the rim with two decorative bands. The rim has been broken. European representation in enamel colours.
