About this work
Klapmuts bowl of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue. On the bottom, symbols of good fortune and tassels. On the interior wall, four lobed cartouches with symbols of good fortune or plants. The interior rim with flowering branches. The exterior wall is divided into four broad compartments with a type of pearl motif and four narrow compartments. The form and decorations are in imitation of Chinese Kraak porcelain. Crazed glaze; some gold lacquer restorations; gritty sand on the underside. Swatow (Zhangzhou).
