About this work

In a palace, the harlequin Bombario is led away by Death; other traders are taken away by devils. On the right, a Roman painting depicting the deathbed of Pope Clement XI (1721). At the bottom left, a jester at a globe showing the Mississippi Company; on the right, the wheel of fortune with the new Pope Innocentius XIII, John Law, Cardinal Alberoni, and the Pretender. The caption contains a three-column verse. Print 17 in the series Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid with satirical prints on the Wind Trade or Share Trade of 1720.
