Contest Between Death and Nature, or the Triumph of Painting (Part 20) and Fifth Performance

Continuation of the play "Gooden Pleijdt ofte Triomphe der Schilderconst over de Doodt". At the bottom is the final of five scenes, intended to explain the structure and main themes of the play. This last scene describes how Painting is crowned by Nature and flanked by Apollo and Pallas. The nine Muses and the Liberal Arts, accompanied by Mercury, all sing a hymn to Painting, the only power that can defy the struggle with Death.
