About this work

The drawing is in a 'plakboek' (scrapbook) with works by Gesina, her father, Gerard the Elder, and her brothers Gerard, Moses and Harmen ter Borch. The two boys are the children of their sister Jenniken ter Borch, who was married to Sybrant Schellinger and died in 1675 in Curacao. The children were subsequently raised in Zwolle by Gesina. On the inside of Cornelis' hoop are attached loose metal elements that make noise when rolling.
