About this work

Mercury flies to Athens and falls in love with Herse, one of the daughters of Cecrops. Herse walks in the midst of a procession of girls with flowers in their hair towards the temple of Minerva to make an offering. Below the image, two times two lines of verse in Latin. The print is part of an album.
