About this work

Capture of Maragnon (São Luís) on the Brazilian coast, 30 October 1641. View of the bombardment of the harbor by Dutch ships of the fleet under commanders Lichthart and Kin. In the sky a winged scroll with the title decorated with two smoke horns and a laurel wreath. In the caption the explanation of the letters A-H in Latin. Plate no. 51 in a series of 55 depictions of the journey to and stay in Brazil of Count Johan Maurits of Nassau in the years 1636-1644.
