According to the accompanying text (p. 296): 'A completely new English costume according to the London Fashion Journal for September'. The woman wears a bodice of plain white East Indian muslin with a moderate train. Straw hat 'à la Bohemienne' with lilac ribbons and a lilac silk cloth tied under the chin. White satin cloak with lilac lining. White 'ombrette' (parasol) in hand. The man wears a dark olive jacket with a collar of the same color. White vest of cotton batist (percale). Wide long trousers of white Nankin. Round balloon hat (?) (top hat). According to the caption, these are morning costumes for September 1807. Print from the fashion magazine *Elegantia, or magazine of fashion, luxury, and taste for ladies* 1807-1814 (interrupted by the period 1811-1813).
