About this work

Bessus, the murderer of Darius III, is executed by being bound between two trees bent towards each other, which are then released, tearing his body in two. Alexander the Great stands on the left in the foreground, watching as his soldiers bind Bessus. Numbered 30 in the upper right. Drawing forms part of an album.
