About this work
According to Vecellio's text, noble young ladies, when they go outdoors (which they rarely do), wear an outer garment of damask or silk brocade, decorated with stars or other motifs. The outer garment with long tight sleeves is buttoned from top to bottom with gold buttons. Her hair is pinned up under a thin veil hanging down her back. Fan in hand. Within an ornamental border.
