About this work
Triumphal Arch of the Antwerp magistracy. Centrally a double portrait of Philip II and Archduke Ernest. At the top Apollo in the sun chariot and the virtues Faith, Love and Hope. Erected at the end of the Korte Nieuwstraat. Part of the description of the entry of Archduke Ernest into Antwerp, 18 July 1594, by Joannes Bochius, Descriptio publicae gratulationis, spectaculorum et ludorum, in adventu Sereniss. Principis Ernesti Archiducis Austriae, Ex Officina Plantiniana, Antwerp 1595.
