About this work

Count Robert I the Frisian (second husband of Gertrude of Saxony and regent for Dirk V), full-length, facing away from us. His sword rests with the point on the ground. His shield is quartered in twelve pieces (Flanders) and features a heart shield with a climbing lion. The print is part of a book with descriptions and depictions of the counts of Holland, Zeeland, and Friesland.
