About this work
In the foreground, the Bucintoro, the Doge's galley. Once a year, during the Festa della Sensa, the Doge ceremonially 'married' the Adriatic Sea by throwing a ring into the water from this galley. In the background, several smaller ships and gondolas, and Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore (indicated on the print as S. Zorzi). Two-line Italian text in the lower margin. The print is part of an album.
