Hugo de Groot is reunited in Paris with his wife Maria van Reigersberch, who devised the escape plan using the book chest, and one of their daughters, after his escape from Loevestein, September 1621. Part of the group of steel engravings after the paintings of the Historical Gallery of the Society Arti et Amicitiae.
