About this work

Man seen from the front, dressed in a light brown fur coat with a pelerine (Carrick). High-tied cravat. On his head a tall alpaca hat with a stiff brim. Umbrella used as a walking stick in the left hand. Flat shoes. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
