About this work

Woman seen from the front, wearing a white gown with gathered puff sleeves, high waist, and train. Blue shawl loosely draped. Hair tightly braided back into a knot, with tight side braids and an aigrette of diamonds (?) on the forehead. Long white gloves. Small fan in hand. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
