About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand (no. 7), ca. 1600. With his right hand he brings a lit match to his mouth to blow it clean. Plate 7 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur les pourtraitz figurez, touchant le droit maniement du Mousquet.
