The stall of the wind traders, 1720

The Fair Stall of the Share Traders. A large cart drawn by two toads and driven by Deceit, on which ride Bombario (with a hunchback) in harlequin costume, the devil with a bellows, and a jester surrendering shares. Around the cart and at the Quincampoix coffee house, a large crowd of share traders in panic. On the right, a gate with the coats of arms of Haarlem, Amsterdam, and Leiden, to which the cart is denied entry. The caption contains a four-column verse by Philadelphus. Print in the bound first edition (304 B 10) of Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid with satirical prints on the Wind Trade or Share Trading of 1720.
