About this work
The World's Carousel. A carousel in which wind traders, standing in the buckets, try to catch share certificates scattered by figures (a peasant and inhabitants of the South Sea, Mississippi, and West Indies) standing on the masts of the mill. In the foreground, other gentlemen wait for their turn on the carousel; on the right, desperate shareholders. In the background to the left is Vianen, to the right ships at sea. Caption in four columns by Philadelphus. Print in the bound fourth edition (304 B 12) of *Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid* with satirical prints on the Wind Trade or Share Trade of 1720.
