About this work

Plan of the fortifications around the city of Bouchain, besieged by the Allies from 19 August and taken on 12 September 1711. In the foreground Victory drives away the French doves from a dovecote by flying through the pillars of Hercules with a long stick. Accompanied by a verse. Part of an atlas with 223 maps of countries and cities and scenes of war in Europe in the period ca. 1690-1735.
