About this work
Plan of the Italian city of Turin, besieged by the French and relieved by the Allies on 7 September 1706. On the left, a tablet with a poem on the relief, accompanied by the river god of the Po and the French king Louis XIV falling from the heavens as Phaëthon with his chariot. Part of an atlas with 223 maps of countries and cities and scenes of war in Europe from ca. 1690–1735.
