Basket

The oval basket rests on four cast feet, shaped as bird claws grasping a ball. The flat bottom is set in the straight lower edge, which, like the upper edge and the ears, is decorated with a pearl border. The vaulted wall is entirely pierced with engraved motifs: a lower edge of two twisted ribbons, a middle section of elongated guilloches with half rosettes at the top and bottom, and an upper edge of ovals connected by small balls. The upper edge of the basket is scalloped. The flat, angular ears have concave vaulted sides. They are placed obliquely upwards. On the two short sides, a groove is provided on the inside, into which the removable interior fits. This consists of two partitions placed at right angles to each other with wavy tops, crowned at the crossing by a cast cubic foot on which a vase with a bouquet of flowers (some flowers and leaves are damaged, two leaves are missing). The vase has a fluted body and two round ears from which rings hang.
