About this work

Linen damask napkin with ships, fish and the coats of arms of Scipio Meckama van Aijlva and Lucia van Eysinga. Central field: the symmetrical pattern shows two ships, dolphins, mermaids, seahorses and various fish. Side borders: fish and shellfish. In the broad horizontal borders: a branch with flowers, including two coats of arms with the inscriptions SCIPIO MECKAMA VAN ALVA and LUCIA VAN EYSINGA ANO 1661. Embroidered in the corners L.V.A. 1661.
