The chatelaine consists of a belt hook with an ornament composed of volutes in filigree technique, featuring a central knob surrounded by a pearl border, to which six chain links are attached, interrupted by a filigree strip, and to which the needle case, thimble case, and scissors hang via S-shaped connectors. One of the chains is empty. The chains consist of oval, ribbed links. The needle case comprises a conical part with a profiled upper edge and a hinged lid, beneath which is a long, tapering section ending in a peg. The thimble case, very similar to the upper part of the needle case, has a convex, profiled underside to which two decreasingly sized balls are attached. The scissors have iron legs.
