About this work
Silver pocket watch with a separate silver case. The silver back cover is entirely smooth; the silver dial with black inlaid Roman hour and Arabic minute numerals on raised pieces on a granulated ground, has a roundel of vines on a blue ground and two plates marked: H. Reynders Arnhem. Through a square opening, the date of the month is visible. The plate with the richly worked silver hinge is marked: Hermanus Reynders Arnhem. The separate case with chased relief, depicting two soldiers before tents, has a border of chased ornaments in the style of Berain, interrupted by two bust portraits, a pelican feeding its young, and a dog.
