Tea caddy of tortoiseshell with three silver rectangular boxes

The rectangular canteen of tortoiseshell on oak, mahogany and violetwood is lined on the inside with green velvet. It has a hinged lid, an interior divided into three compartments by means of two drawers, and a drawer underneath. It rests on four cast silver feet in the shape of a bird's claw on an oval base. The canteen has diagonally placed, slightly projecting corner posts and shows, above a low straight-sided base, a hollow vault, a round profile and an elongated S-curve. The lid is closed at the bottom by a round profile above which is a convex vault, an S-curve and a hollow vault, at the top closed by a round profile that surrounds the slightly raised, flat top. The drawer is opened by pressing a silver tab on the underside. The lock and hinges of the lid are of silver, as is the cast lock plate, which has the shape of an asymmetrical cartouche of rocailles, and the equally cast handle on the lid.
