About this work

Fragment of a wall covering, painted with Chinese genre scenes. In the foreground a junk mooring at a small staircase with six men carrying gifts. Behind it a staircase with children and men with gifts leading to a terrace where on the left in blue a pavilion with spectators, while on the right a woman and man are receiving, accompanied by maids with parasols and lanterns. To the left behind a pavilion with three women watching. Landscape background with two foxes chasing each other. Two Chinese children, one climbing on a rock and the other chasing a hare. In the distance mountain peaks. In the sky a bird and butterflies. Oriental textile.
