From the collection of Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Free to download, adapt and use — no permission needed.
Cuff with a woven border of batiste with a strip of natural-coloured mixed lace: Venetian ribbon lace, bobbin lace combined with needle lace attachment and decorative stitches. The slightly rounded strip of lace is sewn to the straight border with a narrow bobbin band. Scrollwork with various cup-shaped flowers and curling leaves. To the right of the center stands a double C-scroll in mirror image. The contours of the motifs are formed by bobbin ribbons, which are used double/parallel and attached to each other with twisted festoon stitches. The ribbons are partly shaped by bobbin work and partly, at sharp curves, laid/pleated in shape. Various needle lace decorative stitches are applied within the motifs. Sporadic picoted spangles. The underside is finished with a straight picot edge.
