Napkin with London and William III, King of England

Linen damask napkin with London and an English king. Central field: the symmetrically doubled pattern shows, from bottom to top, four scenes: 1 A city view with the Tower and a text band with LONDON. 2 The city coat of arms with the Cross of St. George and a sword in a quarter, wreathed and held by two angels. 3 A king (William III) is seated on a horse walking, with scepter, crown, long wig, and cuffs à bottes from the last quarter of the century. Above it, a text band with KONIG IN ENGELAND; on the saddlecloth a W. 4 A crowned coat of arms: 1 and 4 England, 2 Scotland, 3 Ireland. Standing and lying borders: single running vine with cherries and flowers; outside: block border. Corners: diagonal outward damask. Satin 5 binding.
