About this work

Pedestal of partially gilded walnut. The flat, fretted front and back panels are placed in a splayed position and connected at the bottom by a jointed stretcher. The front shows a punched mask surrounded by volutes ending in lion's claws; above it, a bell-rope, also surrounded by volutes. The back panel has a similar decoration on the inside, indicated by recessed gilded contours. The pedestal is waisted and profiled. See: BK-16869-a.
