About this work

Mary with Child, in relief, of polychromed and gilded stucco. Seated, depicted to the knees and three-quarter to the right. Mary wears a veil over her head. The Child, frontal, is placed on her lap in a half-standing, half-sitting posture. With the fingers of one hand she supports the left leg; with the other hand she presses the Child, who holds a part of his swaddling clothes in each hand, against her. Part of the armrest of the folding chair consists of a volute under which a cherub is visible. Profiled frame with a pearl and leaf border and a plinth inscribed AVE GRATIA PLENA.
