About this work

Tapestry, large-leaf verdure with the Hortus Conclusus and the Fountain of Life in an enclosed garden. A blue-black ground is covered with tall growing flowering plants, among which wild and fabulous animals. The light-edged leaves are large and varied: lobed or sharp and deeply incised, thistle-shaped or acanthus-like. The fairly small flowers grow in clusters. The animals include, among others, a tamed griffin and wolf, furthermore a fox, badger, eagle and a hawk attacking a rabbit. In the distance hills built with houses. In the center stands a multi-tiered hexagonal fountain, with pillars, forming a baldachin crowned with a French lily above a central pillar. Everything is yellow and red. Within the enclosure lie undisturbed six deer.
