About this work
Lambrequin or strip of appliqué embroidery; satin and corded silk on velvet. On a wine-red ground, the pattern features yellow, lying S-scrolls within a yellow border. Silk damask is used for the knots, the heart of a palmette flower, for acanthus leaves, and for the volute termination. The contours and some connecting scrolls are of corded silk in yellow and green. A second strip or lambrequin belongs to this strip.
