Wall covering of green half-silk damask

Wall covering of green half-silk damask. Both the weft and warp of green silk are reinforced with natural linen. Weave structure of warp satin on a foundation of left-leaning twill. The pattern is symmetrical and spans the full width: two motifs placed one above the other alternate between two broad wavy stems, each intersected, with a net pattern, which is wrapped by acanthus scrolls. Motif 1: supported by small hanging branches with fruit, consists of a flower base, upon which large, airy, whimsically cut petals are arranged in an arch, with leaf stems and flowers emerging to the left and right. Motif 2: shows a bowl-shaped support with a giant peony-like flower with a netted heart, while the bowl rests on a central stem with radiating and hanging seaweed-like leaves with richly branched veins. In total 14 strips and 103 fragments.
