About this work
The twelve pieces of cutlery consist of a gilded silver fork, a spoon and a knife; the forks and knives have porcelain handles, painted in underglaze blue and gold with an ornament inspired by lace. On the back of the handles of the spoons a crowned coat of arms is engraved with two crossed hoes above a hilly landscape, possibly the family coat of arms Wietzendorff (Wittgendorf) from Hannover.
