About this work
She has her left foot slightly forward and holds the naked, seated child on her right arm. She turns her head towards the viewer, grasps Mary's veil with one hand, while her left hand rests against her shoulder. Mary wears a front-pleated gown with sleeves that hangs down over the crescent moon, with a rectangular neckline from which the shirt protrudes. The wide mantle hanging from the shoulder, fastened at the chest with bands, is gathered under the arms and draped to the left. A veil that has slipped from the head onto the shoulders with a pleated edge folds between her and her neck.
