About this work

Painted oak offering box. The box rests on a square plinth and is closed by a hinged lid. The front is entirely covered by an iron lock plate nailed with nails, which has a keyhole and an inlet for a slide connected by a hinge to the iron band on the lid, which has a slot. On either side of this, two narrow iron bands connected by a handle from which a chain hangs to the bottom of the box. On the sides and back is written: Remember the poor, 1671.
