About this work
Chest of oak covered with tooled leather, the ornaments of which are gilded. The front displays hands embossed within lozenges. On the domed lid, the same motif with dolphins on either side, also within lozenges. In the corners, winged horses. On the back and sides, a lozenge pattern containing a stylized leaf motif. At the bottom of the chest, a lozenge division with the inscription ANNO 1604 and the letters K.V.P. The chest rests on four copper feet and has a copper lock plate with key, and a copper handle on the lid. Internally, the chest still shows some remains.
