About this work

Oval box of black leather, belonging to 32 mica overlays on which various costumes are painted in tempera. The portrait miniature, onto which the overlays are to be placed, is missing. The costumes depict daily women's attire with earrings, brooches, and various plumed hats, as well as a widow's cap, caps of white and black lace. Also men's costumes, a turban, a queen's crown, ermine, and various orders of dress.
