About this work

Cotton christening gown with embroidery. The pattern features a cartouche of C-shaped strapwork containing a chalice on a foot. The chalice is filled with pears, pomegranates, and flowering branches. Above the chalice float two putti, and on the foot of the chalice, two winged putti support it. The field around the cartouche is filled with flowering branches.
