Collar of mixed lace with rosette set in S-scrolls and a vase with seven-leaf

Collar of natural-coloured mixed lace - bobbin lace combined with a needle lace ground - Brussels duchesse. Round model. The repeating and radially arranged pattern consists alternately of a rosette set in symmetrical S-lines and a vase with a seven-leaf plant. The motifs are bobbin-worked in linen stitch and net stitch. The motifs are partially accentuated by bobbin-worked relief contours and the rest by widely festooned thread bundles. Some rosettes are made of needle lace. The motifs are connected to each other by a needle lace ground with single festooned meshes. Various needle lace decorative stitches are applied and ornamental grounds with very fine and coarser meshes. The shell border along the outer edge consists of large shallow shells and the inner edge consists of linked rosettes.
