Jacket of Silk Brocade, Silver on a Light Blue Ground

A child's jacket of silk brocade, in silver on light blue. Model: the short, straight-cut front panel of diagonally cut brocade has a wide neck, one center seam and slits in the front center and to the side. The fastening is at the back with a cord and a row of coarse buttonholes, ending at the waist. The back panels are hollow-cut for a protruding, short skirt, slightly round-cut at the bottom. Very wide, smooth sleeves are decorated with a tapering cuff. Along the cuffs a strip of cutwork silver lace. Material: lampas (?) with silver thread laid. A light blue silk ground of warp twill (3:1) is laid with silver lamé (9/10 disappeared). There is a thin, light blue warp and a thick, slightly stronger blue weft. On the light blue background stands, en creux, a laid pattern of silver (silk core). This silver thread is floating and only here and there bound with the warp, irregularly or in cannetillé.
