Rectangular box with a domed, hinged lid resting on four baluster-shaped feet. Profiled edges run along the lower and upper sides of the box, and along the underside of the lid. The walls and lid are pierced and subsequently chased in relief with a decoration of flowers and leaves. Two dancing putti are incorporated into the lid. On their shoulders they carry a branch from which a bunch of grapes hangs. On the front there is a keyhole with a round hole on either side. Originally a lock plate was probably attached there. Engraved on the underside of the smooth inner container: Augt"5th"1820. This new Lining weighing 7 oz:17dwz: for an Old Tea Chest, of unknown Assay is allowed to be added to the same without Solder.
