About this work
Roll of so-called English red chiseled, cut, and uncut silk velvet, the plain ground weave in satin weave. Design: in the center, asymmetrically placed, separate upright flower branches, the leaves resembling oak leaves, the flowers resembling hibiscus; framed by mirror-symmetrically placed S-shaped upright peacock feathers with "eyes". Marked: in the bottom corners in the selvage, two lead tags attached bearing: T & C LYON and DEPOSé PARIS. Provenance: Huize Molecate at Hattum (written on an attached note). Condition: as new.
