About this work

Carpet, Kazak, with medallion pattern. Central field: on a red ground scattered with stars and blocks, four hexagonal medallions stand along the length axis, two of ultramarine, one of cobalt blue, and one of light green with rhombus and hook fillings. Borders: a white ground is divided by lateral triangles in red, ultramarine, yellow, orange, and green into rhombus fields, upon which angular rosettes stand. Inner border of interlocking triangles in red and green. Condition: infested with moths, larvae, etc. Cleaned in the snow. With large ink stain. Holes in the corners and in the center.
