Gold Parasol Knob, Decorated with Water Lilies, Reeds and Dragonflies

Gold parasol knob. The knob is oval at the bottom and widens towards the round, slightly domed top. It rests on a slightly domed, smooth band, above which is a chased frieze of a repeating pattern of lily-like flowers against a rough background. The top is decorated with a pearl, from which three C-shaped garlands extend, each consisting of four decreasingly sized gold settings with alternating sapphires and diamonds. The knob is chased all around with water and various plants such as water lilies, reeds and cattails, and above them a dragonfly, against a very finely rough background. The hollow underside is filled with ivory with a hole in the center. Possibly belonging (?) a blade with wavy contours on both sides.
