About this work
In 1769 Louis Gerverot took over the Weesp porcelain factory from Nicolas Gauron as factory leader. Gerverot had trained as a porcelain painter. He made few changes to the shapes of the porcelain, but the quality of the decoration reached great heights. He specialized in brilliantly coloured birds.
